PEP Talks dental practice leadership and team building for the millennial age.
I spent some time in a few forums that were talking about the rude, idiotic, or worse things that patients and customers say.
In this episode of PEP Talks I will address the comments, the reactions and give some simple solutions to help you when the next insensitive person opens their mouth. I will talk about how to interact with them and what to say in response to these statements – even statements that seem insulting.
I discuss ...
Why stress and fear are the driving causes of crazy statements.
The neurological and biological reason that logical people become so illogical.
And I give you a very simple verbal tool to reflect and deflect the insult that some of these comments can bring.
If you would like more information and insights regarding how to deal with patients and staff, go to www.YourPracticeTherapist.com/consult
In this episode, I will address -
Compassionate or calloused. Finding emotional balance and the ability to be compassionately Indifferent is key to success.
A Recent conversation in a group of professionals on who to deal with stressful clients.
Lots of varied and effective strategies. Then...
“I choose not to care and I work out.”
In this episode, I am going to address the balance between being too compassionate and putting up walls that leave you cold and calloused.
A successful practice is built on the balance of caring just enough not to care too much and practice values that say We C.A.R.E. I will explain that in depth.
I will also give you a very simple question to use to self-evaluate and keep the emotional entanglement in check.
I’ll finish off by exploring the 3 reasons that it is financially vital to find emotional balance.
The delicate dance between over caring, and not caring at all. Let’s start with discussing the why. Why is it so important to develop the ability to be compassionately indifferent?
Private Practice Professions - Dentists and Therapists, in particular, are at high risk for emotional overwhelm and mental distress. Dentist work with patients who are in pain, are afraid, and generally, do not want to be there, AND if your work is off at all, the bite will be off and the patient will be even more unhappy. The stress is insane.
Therapists sit all day in dark rooms listening to the dark secrets and hidden pains of their clients.
Finding a path to empathetically block without being sterile and cold is the key to patient happiness and self-preservation.

In this episode, Brett M. Judd addresses-
Equal is not fair.
Motiovation goes far beyond money and the pooled bonus. It is not about extra earned PTO. The only way to truly motivate your teams is to Say YES you are there for them and to meet their individual needs so taht they will meet yours and the collective needs of the practice.
Go to www.yourpracticetherapist.com and get the free motivation cheat sheet. Learning the power and art of constructive motivation is one of the fastest ways to boost team productivity.
While you are there, be sure to schedule your practice wellness consultation call. Every practice has areas it can improve, and I will help you identify the wholes that are costing you thousands is revenue, and close the gaps to your Profitable Ethical Practice.
Equal is not fair.
There is no fairness in reality. Fair is not equal.
The 80/20 rule of fairness. College group work. Who is getting the bonus without putting in the work?
One of the most fair things a practice owner can do is learn to be disagreeable. YES! stop pleasing everyone and you will get more done. The art of it is being agreeably disagreeable.
The book David and Goliath by Malcolcm Gladwell is a great read. If you haven’t read it yet, or listened to it on audible, I strongly suggest you get the book and discover what your personal Goliaths are.
The notion of fairness and group motivation is one that is in large part a Goliath that is killing your practice. Be a David. Be disagreeable.
Individual Motivation is the only motivation that will work.
It is supposed to be fair, shoudn’t it? Fair is a place that you go to see the animals.
A.R.E. you there for me? This question is the most profitable question you can ever say yes too. It is the motivator your teams need to produce as you need them too.
Individual engagement will tell you who to motivate and how to get the most from your staff.
